AKERN BIA 101

  • Medically validated analysis of body composition
  • Resistance und Reactance
  • Phase angle
  • Unique evaluation of nutrition and hydration state by » BIAGRAM®  and » Biavector®

The legendary BIA 101 is considered to be the pioneer in commercially available bioelectrical impedance devices. With more than 15,000 instruments sold between Akern and its sister company RJL during the last 20 years, the device is touted as the scientific world reference in BIA. The phase sensitive BIA 101 measures Resistance (Rz) and Reactance (Xc) of the human tissue by a non-susceptible current. Electrodes are place on hand and foot on one side of the body, leading to reliable test data within seconds. Data are entered into the powerful Bodygram® software under Windows or transmitted by serial cable (optional wireless). Medically validated algorithms are employed for body composition analysis. Integrated into Bodygram® are the exclusive » BIAGRAM® and » Biavector®  graphical evaluation systems for one-glance detection of nutrition and hydration impairment.

BIA101 determines the following parameters:

  • Resistance (Rz) in Ohm
  • Reactance (XC) in Ohm
  • Phase angle (PA) in degrees
  • Bio-active cell mass (BCM) in kilograms and
  • Total body water (TBW) in liters and percent
  • Extra cellular water  (ECW)in liters and percent
  • Intra cellular water (ICW) in liters and percent
  • Fat mass (FM) in Kilograms and percent
  • Fat free mass (FFM) in kilograms and percent
  • Ratio intra/extra cellular mass (ICM/ECM)
  • Muscle mass (MM) in kilograms and percent
  • Na/Ka exchange
  • Basic Metabolic Rate (BMR)  in kilocalories/kilojoules
